Wine Entry : Sassicaia Super Tuscan 2000 (Italian)

-
Had this half bottle of Sassicaia 2000 in one of the restaurants at Shaw Centre Orchard Road.
It was amazing! The intensity & balance of the palate and wonderful fragrant aromas was to die for...
The half bottle was not enough! Hope I will have a chance to drink more of this label in the coming "Niu" Year...

Here are some write ups on it..

"Sassicaia Super Tuscan - Powerhouse of Italy"

Within the family of "Super-Tuscans", those recalcitrant wines that shunned centuries of Italian tradition by embracing international grape varieties, there is "Sassicaia", the grand-daddy of them all, who has reached iconic status since being declared the best Cabernet Sauvignon out of 33 wines from 11 countries, in 1978 Decanter Magazine Tasting.

As Mr James Suckling commented "Sassicaia is the quintessential Italian Cabernet Sauvignon. In very good to outstanding vintages, it shows a wonderful richness of berry, cassis and even a minty character, along with firm, silky tannins and a great backbone of acidity."

Great wine. I'm so envious. BTW, what did you pay for the half bottle?
