Wine Entry : South Crossing Ice Wine Riesling Marlborough Region 2004 (New Zealand)

-
We opened this bottle of wine on New Year’s day, it was a gift from my uncle, whom I believe got it from DFS at Changi Airport. This is the gold label one which costs about S$45. Straw light in colour, more reminiscence of a chardonnay than an ice wine.

Smell : Lemony, flora smell with more a chardonnay smell.

Taste : Light sweetness, smooth, lemon citrus and generally not overpowering.

After-taste
: Relatively short finish without any bitter orange peel taste common in noble rot wines.

Description at the back of the label :

Created from vineyards in the greater Marlborough region. The carefully nutured vines produce premium fruit for this vintage ice wine riesling. After the harvest, an extended period of sub zero handling in the winery has further enhanced the balance between fruit sweetness and natural grape acidity. Powerful lime and citrus fruit bouquet with rich luscious apricot and lime flavours that linger long and full on the palate.
